22 June 2014

Rode 250 miles around San Antonio starting from Gruene Harley-Davidson as part of the Harley-Davidson World Ride.  Initially planned two 225 mile loops around San Antonio, TX; however I missed a turn and would up going to San Marco, TX before heading back to the dealer.  Since no one wanted to do a second lap we called it quits.  It was a fun ride!

3 May 2014

I'll be starting my SaddleSore 2000 at around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. The map should start updating shortly after I start. The ride will take me through Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. With a little luck I'll be back home by midnight on Sunday, 4 May.

5 April 2014

I'll be riding with the GHOG Chapter to Brewster's Pizza in Wimberly, Texas. You can ride along...check out the map below, it should begin updating around 11:00 a.m.  Let's ride and have fun!
Update: I forgot to turn the GPS on my phone on and didn't realize it until we got to Brewsters...so the track only shows my ride home. The pizza was great!

1 March 2014

Today I'll be riding to San Marco TX to have lunch at the Hays Co BBQ with the Gruene HOG Chapter. You can ride along with us by following our progress on the map below.  The map should start updating around 11:00 a.m.

22 February 2014

Today I'm off with the Gruene HOG Chapter on a ride to Victoria, TX to have lunch at Ramsey's Restaurant.  It should be a nice ride.  The map should start updating around 9:00 a.m.

15 February 2014

I'm off to explore the Hamilton Pool Preserve  near Dripping Springs, TX with the Gruene HOG Chapter. The weather is supposed to be great.  You can read my full ride report here: Explore Texas - A Ride to the Hamilton Pool Preserve

8 February 2014

In keeping with last weekend's ride theme, Sherry and I rode to Helotes, TX in search of Bobby J's Burgers. I got a tip that Bobby J makes better burgers than In-n-Out so tried it out for ourselves.
It wasn't a long ride but it was fun...any ride is better than no ride.  You can see what we thought about the food here:  Bobby J Burger Review   :-)

1 February 2014

Sherry and I made a burger run to Austin.  Here's our track up the Interstate and back.  It was a nice little ride. You can read more about it here: Adventure Is What You Make It

17-19 January 2014

Here's the track for the 2nd annual men's fellowship (a.k.a SausageFest II).  We' stayed overnight in Gardner State Park and rode the Twisted Sisters on Saturday.  I had a bit of excitement just outside Leaky on FM337...I hit a javelina.

9 November 2013

I rode  with the Gruene HOG Chapter to Lost Maples State Park in Vanderpool, TX.  Because of rain we didn't leave Gruene Harley-Davidson until 10:30 AM.  It was a great ride. You can see my track on the SpotWalla tracking map.

Remember Live Free and Ride Hard!

11 October 2103

I began  my journey across the great State of Texas as part of the 2013 Tour of Honor at 3:35 AM Friday morning. I visited seven memorial/monument sites to honor our nation's heroes and support the Wounded Warrior Foundation. You can learn more about the Tour of Honor by visiting the website: Tour of Honor.

To add to the adventure, I completed the 1500+ mile ride in under 36 hours.  I've requested another IBA certification...the Iron Butt Bun Burner and because I'm did it as part of the Tour of Honor, it will be called the Tour of Honor Extreme Bun Burner. Sounds cool, huh?

You can view my entire route below.  By the time I got back to San Antonio on Monday I'd ridden 2181 miles.

Time to Live Free and Ride Hard!

27 July 2103
Originally planned to ride to the Alamo Springs Cafe with the Gruene HOG Chapter. Unfortunately the Cafe had a power outage and was closed. So the group rode to Hondo's in Fredericksburg, TX. Hondo's had some great burgers and live music.

Afterwards we rode to Albert, TX and stopped for a little liquid refreshment. Overall, it was a great day to ride!

20 July 2103
Rode to Pedernales Falls State Park with the Gruene HOG Chapter. It was a great ride. We hiked to see the "falls" and had a picnic lunch. I got some nice photographs of the fall area, very scenic..

14 July 2013

I rode with the Gruene Chapter HOG to the Float House Restaurant on River Road.  River Road offers some great riding with beautiful views.  It was one hot day...into the triple digits, but still a great day to ride!    :-)

7 July 2013

I left San Angelo at 10:37 a.m headed for San Antonio via a very indirect route. Since I missed one of the Sister's on the 4th, I decided to pick the Sister I missed on my way home. I travelled a little over 300 miles in around 7 hours with stops. It was hot but I covered-up and used a Chilly Pad to generate some additional evaporative cooling. It was a fun day!

4 July 2013

Call it my Independence Day Run...I left for San Angelo, TX at 6:30 a.m. to spend the 4th of July holiday and weekend with my wife, expectant daughter, an two granddaughters.  I didn't go "straight" to San Angelo but made my way there via 2 of the 3 Twisted Sisters (RR 336 & 337)).  It was a great ride with  lots of photo opportunities.

29 June 2013

I rode with the Gruene HOG Chapter from the Gruene Harley-Davidson dealership in New Braunfels to the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, TX...yes, home of Shiner Bock beer! We had lunch at Werner's Steakhouse. It was really HOT on the wasy back...around 105, but it was still a great ride. Had issues with BubblerGPS, could be my phone was overheating and casuing problems.

22 June 2013

I rode with the Gruene HOG Chapter from the Gruene Harley-Davidson dealership in New Braunfels to Brewster's Pizza and Pub in Wimberly, TX. It wasn't  a long ride but it was a fun group ride. Good friends and good food, that's hard to pass-up.

14-16 June 2013

I travelled from San Antonio to San Angelo on Friday and returned to San Antonio on Sunday.  I ran into a few sprinkles on Friday but overall I managed to stay dry.  The return trip on Sunday was hot but very enjoyable.  It's hard to beat a ride in the Texas Hill Country...it's almost like being transported back in time.  If you looked really hard you could see the Commanche indians on the crests of the hills...

I'm still trying to figure out using the picture function of BubblerGPS and SpotWalla but I did manage to capture a few images at several spots along the way.

1 June 2013

Today I participated in the Gruene HOG Chapter ride to LBJ Ranch...I ended up leaving after lunch in Blanco, so I didn't make it to the Ranch but I had a great time and it was a beautiful day to ride.
